New athletic director announced

ܽƵ has announced the hiring of Sadiaa Jones as the school’s next director of Athletics.

Jones has been the executive athletic director for Dallas College since June of 2021. She’s an Elk City native with a history of athletics leadership positions in state schools. She will begin work at ܽƵ remotely on June 16 and start on-campus work in mid-July.

“We are excited to welcome Sadiaa to the ܽƵ family, and we look forward to her impact on our Athletics programs,” ܽƵ President Kenneth Evans said. “Her experience, leadership skills and familiarity with Oklahoma college athletics will be a great benefit to our program.”

Jones previously served for five years as athletic director at Seminole State College in Seminole, and for five years as associate athletic director for compliance and student services at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva.

She started in June of 2021 at Dallas College, a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Her duties there include oversight of multiple campus branches and a $4 million annual operating budget. She also served as commissioner of the Dallas Athletic Conference, overseeing athletics competitions between Dallas College’s six branches.

Jones said she is excited to become ܽƵ’s Athletics director and to be moving back to her home state.

“I am extremely grateful to President Evans and the search committee for giving me this incredible opportunity to lead ܽƵ athletics,” Jones said. “I am excited to have the honor of working with a coaching staff and student athletes of an athletic department with such an accomplished history.”

Jones holds a master’s degree in Education Administration and a bachelor of science degree in Health and Physical Education Recreation from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and an associate’s degree in arts from Seminole State College.

Prior to entering athletics administration, she served for six years as an assistant women’s basketball coach at California State University Fresno. She competed in college athletics at both Seminole State and Southeastern Oklahoma State.

Jones will replace interim Athletics Director Bill Raynor.
